This project pays homage to prairie matrix planting design with a variety of pollinator and native plants in 6-12” deep planting modules. Betula nigra anchors and shades the two seating spaces rather than the addition of synthetic shading devices. The deck design pulls away into a catwalk between living and dining spaces for an intimate compression between the plantings on either side.
